Friday, August 7, 2020: The Farmer Resource Center (FRC) in Salayea, Lofa County, now has a solar light. Thanks to the generous support of Lois Kunkel and Agnes Struik through their Healing Exchange Liberia Project and all our Canadian families that contributed their hard-earned money to make this lighting project a reality. The solar lights have improved the campus environment for both students and staff to work and move freely around the campus during the night. The FRC is operated by Camp for Peace Liberia with support from the Steel Worker Humanity Fund and several friends in Canada and the US. Their dream is to transform Liberian Youths from excluded dependency to inclusive citizenship that is respected and productive. With the solar light, our students now have the opportunity to watch satellite television that future agriculture programs around the world, soccer, and other entertainment during their leisure hour. The lighting system will also assist other local farmers in utilizing the campus during the night to process their rough cassava and other local food for the local market.
